Nadia Askar: Positive attitudes and a positive changes.
As 2018 comes to an end, I am already thinking of the many resolutions I have for 2019. Most of these revolve around work. In 2019, I hope to affect positive changes through a positive attitude. It is my hope that these changes will also help better improve your work life.
I wish to record more podcasts for those who are always on the move and may not have time to sit and read a column or feature. I hope to get more motivational columns online and in print. Perhaps even start a book club for all people who want to read up on the latest business-advice book, but don’t have a discussion outlet. Many advice books have audiobooks and can be listened to on the road or while sitting at a desk during lunch.
Another tool I think would be beneficial is an “Ask your peers” section. Similar to a “Letters to Editor” section, this can be for contractors who have advice for a fellow reader. Questions can be sent to me anonymously and posted on our webpage. You can ask anything from advice on a project to tips on dealing with employee morale.
These are all just spitball ideas, but it is my wish that some of these additions to our website and magazine can affect positive changes in your life. If you have any other ideas or suggestions for things you’d like to see covered in 2019, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
One new feature that will be coming out in 2019, is our 40 under 40 spotlight. We are taking nominations for your best plumbing contractors, engineers and distributors in the West. If you know a young professional who works hard and deserves recognition from their plumbing industry peers, nominate them for the 40 under 40 list.
Hard work and a positive attitude can lead to positive changes. Take action in 2019. You can start by sharing what your resolutions will be with others so they can hold you accountable. Use social media as a platform. Tag us in your post with #ReadersOfRJandTheirResolutions and we can all help each other stick to those resolutions.
