Editorial Op: A new sensation
It’s not often a publication goes through the kind of changes good old RJ has gone through over the past three months.
Our BNP Media Plumbing Group, under the guidance of brand-new senior group publisher, Darrell Dal Pozzo, has been frantically abuzz recently with all sorts of ideas about how to go about the transition to this new thing called “RJ 2.0.” There have been conference calls and emails flying back and forth and wide-ranging discussions on subjects many people might not know would be of concern to a publication, most importantly, who would be doing what during the transition from a monthly magazine with a website to this new multimedia extravaganza.
Frankly, it was difficult to tell the players without a program. In this case we hope our abundance of chefs has turned out an appetizing dish. Special thanks to plumbing group colleagues Mike Miazga, editor of Supply House Times, Jennifer Anesi-Brombach, the editor of Plumbing & Mechanical, and John McNally from PME for all of the assistance thrown RJ’s way during the transformation.
So, you might be asking by now what RJ 2.0 consists of. The first component of the new RJ you’re holding in your hands right now – our quarterly RJ 2.0 print magazine. Bringing you the kind of industry coverage and features you’ve come to expect over the past 98 years, the quarterly print product will be accompanied by a quarterly eBook released at the same time as the print magazine. Don’t make the mistake of thinking the eBook is just a rehash of the print product. No, no, no. The eBook will be filled with its own exclusive content. You could say if you’re not reading both you’re only getting half of RJ 2.0.
But the print quarterly and the quarterly eBook aren’t the only things happening. We’re pumping up the frequency of our Western Plumbing News e-newsletter to twice a month while increasing our involvement on social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, among others.
