Really BIG Shew(s)
I remember Sunday nights when I was a kid. I have some faint memories of the Ed Sullivan Show. I also remember the comedians of the day making fun of the variety show host’s distinctive way of speaking and eventually making a national catchphrase out of Sullivan’s promise of a “Really big shew…”. Well, we have a couple of “really big shews” coming up for the industry this month. In fact, you could argue these are the two largest of the year and they’re virtually back-to-back.
First up, right here on our stage, is the 2016 KBIS show, set for Jan. 19-21 in Las Vegas. A founding member of Design & Construction Week, KBIS is co-locating again with the International Builders’ Show, the International Window Coverings Expo and The International Surface Event – SURFACES. More than 500 exhibitors are expected this month, while last year’s attendance was reported to be 132,000. RJ will be there and we’ll bring you all the coverage to be had, plus a look at what we thought were the most interesting and innovative products on the show floor.
The very next week the HVAC side of the industry lands in Orlando for some of that relatively balmy January weather and to attend the AHR Expo. Hosting the event for the first time in six years, organizers anticipate nearly 2,000 exhibiting companies and more than 50,000 attendees. As a nod to the AHR Expo, RJ this month features an editorial look at the teensiest fraction of the products on display in Orlando from plumbing manufacturers.
