AGC Teams with Department of Labor
The AGC, the nation's largest association of construction contractors, teamed up with the DOL as part of the new Partnerships for Compliance Assistance Program. Stephen E. Sandherr, chief executive of AGC, said the association has had a strong relationship with the DOL for some time, and that it was time to formalize the arrangement.
"When the department approached us we quickly agreed to join it in a positive effort to increase our members' knowledge and understanding of the many federal laws and regulations that apply to their job sites," Sandherr said. "Many of AGC's members are too small to afford a full-time human resources professional, and we applaud the PCAP program and look forward to working with the [DOL] to increase the compliance assistance the association can provide to those firms."
The partnership will enable the DOL to reach a broad mainstream of the construction industry, taking advantage of AGC's web site, information technology and publications as resources. As part of the deal, AGC will publicize the DOL's compliance assistance tools and continue inviting DOL representatives to participate in AGC conferences, seminars and other events.
