The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors-National Association is now accepting applications for scholarships awarded through the PHCC Educational Foundation Scholarship Program. In 2010, up to 15 scholarships totaling more than $36,000 are available.
In addition, the association said it would throw its weight behind the Environmental Protection Agency's "Fix-a-Leak Week" event, Mar. 15-21.
A.O. Smith Water Heaters, Bradford White Water Heaters, Delta Faucet Co., the PHCC Educational Foundation Scholarship Fund, the South Jersey Mechanical Contractors Association, the PHCC of Massachusetts Auxiliary and PHCC Past National Officers sponsor the scholarship awards.
For complete information and application forms, students can visit the Web site or call the PHCC Educational Foundation at (800) 533-7694. Applications and supporting materials are due by May 1.
In other action, PHCC has announced its plans to help promote "Fix a Leak Week," Mar. 15-21, sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's WaterSense program as an annual reminder to Americans to check household plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks.
"Leaks can add up to more than 10,000 gallons of water wasted at home every year-that's enough to fill a backyard swimming pool," said PHCC president Skip Pfeffer. "As trained professionals, PHCC is participating in Fix-a-Leak Week to advise homeowners on how to save money on their utility bills and to help conserve water in our community and for future generations."
