Failed Bargaining Shuts Chicago Faucets Facility

Effective Sept. 1, the Chicago Faucets' Des Plaines, Ill., facility has ceased manufacturing operations after failing to come to a mutually satisfactory collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Chicago, a member of the Geberit Group, has been in operation for more than a century. The company said some operations formerly performed at Des Plaines would be moved to the company's facilities in Milwaukee and Michigan City. It said other processes would be outsourced to third party companies.

Many of the employees working in the plant have been with CFC for 30 to 40 years and some were 2nd and 3rd generation employees.
