The Missing Element

If you take a look at the print edition of Reeves Journal, you’ll see a shaded box on the right-hand side of this page where this column regularly appears. In magazine and newspaper production lingo, that would be known as "the masthead."

Every month we run a list of names, addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses for everyone who makes this magazine tick-everyone from the presidents and corporate directors of our parent company, BNP Media, right on down the line to me.

As you can see, it takes the involvement of a cubic ton of people to get this magazine out the door and through the mail to you each month. But there are a lot of people whose names you won't see listed in the masthead who also have an important role in shaping Reeves Journal's print and online content. In fact, it could be very easily argued that those names missing from the masthead are far more important than anyone who actually works here.

Those names are the names of all 13,500 or so of our contractor readers-the business owners and technicians who subscribe to our magazine and read our articles every month and patronize our advertisers and buy their products.

But, just as "Business News Publishing Co." recently became "BNP Media" to more accurately reflect its ever-increasing development of online as well as print products, "Reeves Journal readers" ought to consider becoming "Reeves Journal participants" instead.

The point I'm trying to make is that we need to hear from you. Call us. E-mail us. Let us know how we're doing, what you like about the magazine and its ancillary products, what you don't like, or even just to say hello and let us know what's happening in your neck of the woods.

Once before, I asked for our readers to step up to the plate and get in touch with us regarding any interesting projects they had going or were soon to be starting. The response was terrific. I'd like to put out that call again. Now is your chance to blow your own horn a little bit and show the contractors in the 14 Western states what your business is about and to share how you're achieving success.

Now, I know the type over there in the masthead is pretty small so, just for the record, my phone number is (949) 830-0881 ext. 3933 and my e-mail address is jack@reevesjournal.com. I will welcome your calls or e-mails and the opportunity to talk with you regarding anything that may be on your mind as far as the plumbing industry goes. The lines are open. Give me a call sometime.<p>
